Meet Shannon

Shannon is not new to the political scene. Shannon has challenged establishment policies that protect our youth and seniors while also fighting against increased taxation. As a lifelong resident of Montgomery County, Shannon has a love for his community with a passion and drive for the betterment of all people within the 74^th District which includes Montgomery, Bath, and Menifee counties.

On the Issues

Ending Property Tax

As a homeowner and business owner, I understand the burden of property tax and the financial strain it puts on families and businesses. I want to work to end property tax and switch the funding mechanism for public services to a state-level sales tax that broadens the base resulting in smaller payments from each person. Doing so will ensure tourists and visitors to the Commonwealth are contributing their fair share towards the cost of maintaining our public infrastructure. I have previously worked with state legislators to protect our property rights. I’ve testified at the Capitol on Senate Bill 71 (2016) and House Bill 18 (2024) to accomplish that objective. Both legislative bills are now enacted into law.

Pro-2nd Amendment

The right to bear arms is a fundamental right guaranteed by the US Constitution. It is the cornerstone that protects all other rights. I am a supporter of nationwide constitutional carry. I will oppose all legislation that is introduced that infringes upon the right to bear arms including red flag laws, magazine capacity limitations, and other forms of gun control.

Our Constitution guarantees the right of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Before we have liberty and pursue happiness, we must first have life. Life begins at conception and it is our duty to protect our most vulnerable. I do not believe our tax dollars should be spent toward ending a life before it begins and I will oppose all legislation presented that robs our most vulnerable the opportunity to have a life of liberty and happiness.

Defending the Constitution

As a staunch believer in our nation’s Constitution, I will oppose all legislation in our state that goes against the framework laid by our Founding Fathers. Additionally, the constitution of the Commonwealth of Kentucky is the foundation for which our beautiful state began. It is my honor and duty to stand for the people of the 74th district to uphold both our federal and state constitutions.
